Yesterday in Northern NJ was fun to say the least. A foot of snow in some areas. Some people couldn't pick their kids up from school, roads were closed, and stuff was flying everywhere. I may have seen a witch or two flying beside me. I wasn't feeling well, and I thought, I'm not in Kansas, so it couldn't be. In all of my 36 years it has never snowed on my B day. It turned out to be a good night after all. After working late and having a cold, all I looked forward to was my home made soup. At 6:00 that looked impossible, our electricity was out and Chuck was sitting home in the dark waiting for me. I left work at 8:00, only to get five minutes from the house, I couldn't get up the mountain. Oh no! It was total crap. I was running on empty in more ways than one, I had no gas. Ten minutes went by and they open the road. I started up and saw a man on the side of the road hitching, I thought it might be my neighbor, and then I thought better. After hitting what I think might have been a small animal, boo hoo, and a couple of branches, I made it home safe. Chuck met me at the steps with a flashlight and he had my soup cooking on the Coleman propane stove outside. He wanted me to have a good end to my B day. He was so thoughtful, and all is well this morning. No trees or such in our yard.
This got me thinking I need to be more prepared if we should ever have a disaster. I'm making my list right after I'm done typing this. We have plenty of candles, and we have an awesome flashlight that winds up. I decided we need a couple more of those. And full charge on the phone is also good idea, as well as a stock pile of liqueur. Hee Hee. Main idea, I should always have a least a half a tank of gas, and never pick up a hitcher, even if it is my neighbor. DUH. Anyway he can find his own dam ride! Eh, maybe he didn't charge his phone.
Good idea! You know that ole Boy Scout motto "Always Be Prepared"
ReplyDeleteWe should all be prepared with plenty of candlelight, food, water, warmth, first aid supplies and knowledge.
Good luck!
