Pet peeve of the day. Words like whatever. Statements like, it is what it is, and my favorite, ya know. I have used these vague words in various combinations and probably all in a one minute conversation. Is this a complete inability to communicate? Yes! But in an on going conversation, it should not go like this. "How's your day"? "Good. Ya know. Whatever. It is what it is." No I do not know. That is why I'm asking and of course it is what it is. Isn't everything? Converse people! Make what you say matter and say it with flare and zest.
During a small break this afternoon a co worker reminded me there is an episode of That 70's Show like this. Jackie, one of the characters, wants to remain cool when another girl wants to start with her. Every response from Jackie, to the other girl, is either whatever, or that's cool. Jackie beats her up in the end. Not cool, but funny. The word whatever pisses me off too. I'm going to test the Jackie theory and answer that's cool and whatever to everything. I'll let you know how it goes.
Funny! I hate "it is what it is" too but really, it is what it is, LOL!!!!!! I still like after someone says "have a good day" you say to them "you have a better one!" I haven't used it yet but I think it's pretty funny!
ReplyDeleteI forgot to use that also. Curly sure knows how to make "have a good day" even better. Just to update I used whatever 2 times. It really works.
